How to Keep the Doer Employee Satisfied

What’s a Doer Employee?

The Doer employee gets things done and does whatever it takes to get the project completed on time.  As a supervisor having someone to count on is so important especially when you are dealing with an influential client. Knowing the project will get done right and finished by the deadline date is very crucial.

Who’s the best employee ever?  The Doer, they get things done!

How can you keep the Doer satisfied?

By acknowledging a job well done.

I asked a few people “What was the nicest thing a supervisor said to you?”

Here are some of the responses I received:

  • Thank you!
  • Good job!
  • I appreciated you staying late.  Thank you!
  • I don’t know what I would have done without you.

Sincere appreciation was what they said made them feel valued.  If you feel valued you will do anything for your boss.

What words of affirmation made you feel acknowledged by your supervisor?

Here are some words of affirmations you can use to show appreciation.

Words of Affirmation:

  • Good job.
  • A sincere “thank you”.
  • I don’t know what I would do without you.
  • That report was excellent.
  • Your presentation was great.
  • Thank you for staying late to finish.
  • Thank you for covering for me while I was out.
  • I trust you.
  • What a great suggestion let’s put it into action.
  • Thank you for speaking up in the meeting and giving your perspective.
  • You’re an awesome employee!
  • Thank you for being so flexible.

A lot of leaders are so focused on climbing the corporate ladder they tend to forget what is really important in life.  Their relationships with others.  A good leader inspires new leaders.

How do you keep a Doer satisfied?  Acknowledging good work performance.  Mentoring and coaching them into leadership positions. Building up their talents with motivating and challenging projects.
