I am sending virtual hugs to everyone who is reading this. 🤗
Thank you to all the medical field personnel for all you do, to the medical researchers, volunteers, and healers. To the people that go to work and risk their lives every day, to the Correctional Officers and Public Servants. You know who you are. Thank you!
Dear Lord, Please wrap your love around the world during this coronavirus epidemic. Bring us a miracle to heal the sick, stop the virus from spreading and destroy it. Amen
I have spoken to a lot of people who feel they are stuck in a dead-end job. When Sunday comes around they dread thinking about going into work the next morning. On Monday mornings they hit the snooze button multiple times and force themselves out of bed. On the way to work, they push themselves with positive affirmations or the opposite with “I hate my job” self-talk.
🦋 Do you feel like you could do your job in your sleep?
🦋 Are there no advancement opportunities where you work?
🦋 Do you feel hateful and resentful when you walk through your workplace?
🦋 Do you get any acknowledgement for a job well done?
Well, here are some questions below to ask yourself. Answer them with the first reaction you have.
🦋 Am I learning any new aspects in my position?
🦋 Are my job duties challenging to me?
🦋 Do I enjoy going to work everyday?
🦋 Am I motivated and strive to increase my productivity level?
🦋 Do I feel I am making a difference?
🦋 Are my coworkers positive at work?
🦋 Am I positive at work?
If you answered no to these questions, you may be feeling stuck in a dead end job.
What are some options to improve my career situation?
Create a Career Journal to keep track of your career goals, action steps, certifications, accomplishments, achievements, and references all in one area.
Making or adding to your career journal is a great way to be organized and to refocus on your career path.
What’s in a Career Journal:
Career goals and ideas
Keep track of career progress
Advice from mentors
A private place to vent career disappointments
Keep positive affirmations and quotes
Gain a new perspective
Resume, cover letters, interview tips, interview questions, thank you letters, recommendations, references and certifications
Mission statement and values
Develop a career action plan
Keep motivated and inspired
To celebrate the small successes
How to Get Started:
Get a large binder; put all your career paperwork and ideas into it
Then decide if you want to put all your information into a computer document, on-line journal, a book journal, or a binder
Organize by categories
Add to your career journal regularly
Keep it in a secure place
Self-Reflection Questions for Career Journal:
What did I learn?
What did I accomplish?
Did I receive any compliments? If so, what was it and who said it?
How did I make a difference?
Did I have any setbacks and how did it affect me?
How can I change my situation and get new career opportunities?
Where should I start networking to meet new people and look for better job opportunities?
What to consider:
Should I stay at my current employment or move on?
Make a list of “why to stay” and “why to go”. Be upfront and honest. No holding back from the truth of the matter!
What’s keeping me here?
Are there other options?
If, so what are they?
A Transfer within the company?
Start job hunting?
Hire a career coach?
Go back to school and learn something new?
After making and reviewing the list to “stay or go”.What did this list tell you?
Take Away: Don’t stay in a job where there is no opportunity for advancement. Take a leap of faith and try something different. You will have a career purpose with meaning again. Whatever decision you make to either stay or go; having a career journal will keep you organized and focused on your career goals as well as helping you be ready for the next career opportunity.

Lynn Myers and Patti Oskvarek discuss everything and anything regarding being a People Pleaser. People Pleasers are the most helpful people you know. They usually don’t say no. They spend a great deal of time doing things for others and disregard their own needs. Being a People Pleaser could cause you to be disappointed because not everyone has the same heart as you do.
What are some of the traits of being a People Person?
* Seeks approval and words of affirmation
* Fears being alone
* Feelings of being selfish or guilty for not meeting the needs of others
* Irritable when others don’t take your advice
* Being the “go to person”, when someone is in need
* Covering for or taking the blame for others
* Giving money away which can lead towards depletion
I used to be a people person then people ruined it! ~ unknown
My husband and I were at WalMart and we saw this phrase on a T-shirt. I held up the T-shirt and said I am going to buy this. Being a leadership and work-life balance coach my job is to encourage people not to feel this way. So why did I want to buy the T-Shirt? Well, to be honest I had many days that I felt this way.
Have you ever felt this way? I know I did throughout my career especially when knee-deep in the day-to-day grind (Bull Sh*t). There were days I would go home and think why are people so hateful, judgmental, petty and disrespectful. Myself included.
What happened to kindness, empathy and compassion?
Reflection Questions About Daily Interactions With Ambitious People
Why is everything about who can “one up” each other?
Why is “knowledge power”? Instead of sharing it.
What happened to being genuinely happy for a coworker and recognizing their accomplishments?
Why is being so “busy” acceptable and “ignoring” family okay?
When will these concepts change in leadership?
Is anybody else out there ready for a mind shift in some basic decency and respect towards others? I know I am!
How about you?
To answer the 🔥 burning question: Did I buy the T-Shirt?Yes, I did. 🙂
P.S. I have received so many comments from people when I wear this T-Shirt. Like: That shirt is so funny. Oh, that shirt is so true. I love that shirt! Why do you think that is? Would love to see your thoughts and comments about this topic. ~ Patti

Today’s challenge is to Compliment instead of Gossip.
I was listening to the Happier Podcast with Gretchen Rubin awhile back and they were talking about using the practice of reverse gossip. This means when someone is gossiping about another person to you. Say something nice about the person being gossiped about. The gossiper usually stops talking about that person. I have tried this technique a few times and it really has worked.
A compliment is a precious gift, so why aren’t we giving them out more?
Offering a sincere compliment makes people feel valued and accepted. Awareness of the good in others helps us to think more positive. Not getting sucked into gossip and the courage to walk away from it can reflect a lot about someone’s character. If more people said nice things about each other instead of the dreadful, this world would be a much happier place. Walk away from hurtful mean words. Most gossip isn’t true anyway and it causes anguish to the person who is being gossiped about. No good comes from gossip. A compliment can change someone’s day from feeling very low to experiencing worthiness. When receiving a compliment, listen, smile and then say thank you.
When someone gives you a compliment, believe them. ~ Molly Simms
The Day 5 Challenge:
Give at least one compliment each day to someone. Be genuine and honest with your compliment. Some examples: Write a note, letter or send a text to someone and tell them what they mean to you or thank them in person for something nice they did.
Use the technique of reverse gossip and/or walk away from the conversation.
A compliment is verbal sunshine! ☀️~ Robert Orben
We all have negative emotions and it’s okay. We can’t be positive every moment of the day, that is literally impossible. Bad stuff happens. Even upbeat happy fun loving people aren’t feeling it all the time. You can strive to be a good person and give a kind compliment. You may never know what that nice gesture meant to someone and how it could brighten their day for the better. ☀️ ~ Patti
How about making someone’s day today by giving them a compliment! 🙂
The best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer everybody else up! ~ Mark Twain
Thank you for spending time with me during this 5 Day challenge. My wish for you is that these daily challenges inspired more positivity within your life and shined out to those around you! ☀️

Today’s challenge is about spending time in prayer and meditation to increase positivity in your daily life.
Prayer and meditation is powerful. These activities release the feel-good chemicals into the brain. What and how we think does have a huge impact on our body, mood and immune system. Prayer and meditation decreases our reactions to negative situations.
Prayer is talking to God and meditation is listening to God! ~ unknown
When feeling stressed, angry or out of control, step away from the situation and pray about it. When praying, it removes us from the emotion and we give it to God. People who pray often see health benefits and experience peace.
Every positive thought is a silent prayer which will change your life. ~ Bryant McGill
Here is an example of a short prayer to ask for guidance for positivity:
When I have negative thoughts, please help me to quickly recognize them and guide me to focus on what is good and positive in my life. ~ Amen
Meditation is a habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. When meditating it has been proven to increase calmness, improve relaxation and help one cope with chronic illnesses. Some people use meditation to create a more positive outlook on life.
Here is a short meditation to get you started:
Your mind is a sacred enclosure into which nothing harmful can enter except by your permission. ~ Arnold Bennet
Day 3 challenge is when you feel upset or overwhelmed, step away and quickly pray about it. Ask for peace and calmness with the situation. Also, listen to the short meditation daily.
My prayer for this 5 Day ~ Power of Positivity Challenge, is for all who are participating to be inspired with positivity and that God gives you the strength to resist the negativity around you. ~ Amen
Today’s challenge is about unplugging from the negative and replugging into the positive.
Everywhere we go; we can watch, read or interact with whatever we want, using wifi, internet, cell phones, laptops and apps. The negative is constantly hammering our environment.
What does unplugging from negative and replugging into positive mean?
When making a few changes with what you watch, listen to, read and how you interact with others by removing the negative influences. This can transform the mind from cynical notions to favorable intentions.
Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results. ~ Willie Nelson
A positive mind gives you encouraging thoughts, which then creates an amazing life.
How do you unplug from the negative and replug into the positive?
Each day turn off all the electronics for at least a half hour and spend some quality time with yourself (me-time) or with others (spouse, family or friends)
Trade watching the news and change it up with listening to some soft uplifting music or an inspiring podcast
Recite daily positive affirmations
Sometimes you have to disconnect to stay connected. Remember the old days when you had eye contact during a conversation? When everyone wasn’t looking down at a device in their hands? We’ve become so focused on that tiny screen that we forget the big picture, the people right in front of us. ~ Regina Brett
Day 3 challenge is to turn off all the electronics for at least a half each day. Remove negative influences and replace them with inspiring ones. Recite daily affirmations to encourage a positive outlook.

Today’s Positive Affirmations:
I am free from negativity and I surround myself with positivity!
The Practice of Gratitude Activities for Day 2 ~ Power of Positivity Challenge
Today’s challenge is about discovering gratitude. When we are grateful for what we have, we display positivity. Feelings of gratefulness radiates outwardly and creates more positivity within us. It is like an echo. What we shout out comes right back.
When one has a grateful heart, life is so beautiful! ~ Roy T Bennett
What do you appreciate in your life?
Gratitude is powerful. People who are thankful have more positivity in life. They feel happy, joyful and are much more compassionate towards others. The more you see your blessings. The more blessings you find.
Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns. I am thankful that thorns have roses. ~ Alphonse Karr.
Some people could be given an entire field of roses and only see the thorns in it. Others could be given a single weed and only see the wildflower in it. Perception is a key component to gratitude. And gratitude is a key component to joy. ~ Amy Weatherly
Which person are you?
What is your inner-voice saying to you? Identify and recognize those feelings. When negative thoughts or emotions enter your mind. You have a choice to let them in or redirect those thoughts. Are those whispers good for the soul?
Having a grateful perspective will become a beautiful reflection of you. An expression of joy, happiness and love. Be so happy that when others look at you, they become happy too. Life is good; when you open your eyes and actually see it.
What do you see?
Day 2 challenge is to make a gratitude journal (notebook), and write at least one sentence each day of what you appreciate in your life.
This 5 Day challenge is designed to ignite positivity within. Especially if struggling with negative surroundings, or difficult circumstances, and want to add some extra positivity in your daily work and personal life.
When you think of positivity what do you imagine?
Today’s challenge is about experiencing hope in our daily lives.
Each one of us carries hope inside. Hope gives us the strength to keep going when we are not sure we can. Having hope gives us purpose and a reason to continue. It doesn’t always reflect what the outcome will be, only what we want it to be. Attaining hope is important when dealing with life’s gloomy situations and it pushes us through those challenging moments.
They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for. ~ Tom Bodett
What is something that you have been hoping for in your life?
Sit down, answer the question and write it somewhere you can see it throughout this 5 day challenge.
Here are some ideas of where to place your written answer:
Put the words on your screen saver via cell phone and computer
Hang the words on your refrigerator
Carry it in your pocket and look at it throughout the challenge
Tape the words to your steering wheel
Write it in your calendar/diary/journal
Draw or paint it
Write on your dry erase board
Write it on your bathroom mirror with erasable markers
Paint the words on a flat rock and display it in your work area
Looking at it each day will inspire and encourage you.
Hope is the thing with feathers. That perches in the soul. And sings the tune without the words. And never stops at all. ~ Emily Dickinson
Being positive doesn’t mean that things always turn out the way you want them. It’s knowing that you will be okay no matter what happens. Hope is not giving up and continuing to live your life to the fullest! You are unique and amazing.
The wise don’t expect to find a life worth of living; they make it that way! ~ Anonymous
Day 1 challenge is to share your HOPE in the “leave a reply” below. I would love to see your expressions of hope and maybe it will inspire others as well! ❤️
