When Kindness Leads the Way – In Work and Life

Kindness is more than being polite or pleasant. It’s a choice, a way of moving through the world with compassion, empathy, and respect.

Every moment offers a decision:

  • Will I react with frustration?
  • Or respond with calm and grace?

When we choose kindness, we soften tension, build trust, and strengthen relationships in ways that feel natural and authentic.

Simple daily examples:

  • Smile at someone passing by
  • Say hello or thank you
  • Offer a compliment
  • Slow down long enough to truly see others

These examples have a ripple through our day and often uplift the people around us more than we realize.

Kindness in the Workplace: 

In the workplace, kindness is a powerful yet often overlooked leadership skill.

It may look like:

  • Listening without interrupting
  • Acknowledging others’ efforts
  • Offering help without expecting anything in return
  • Choosing calm communication, even in stress

When we pause before responding to a stressful email or a heated moment in a meeting, it can shift the entire tone of a conversation.

Kindness Toward Yourself:

Many of us freely offer kindness to others, yet struggle to provide it to ourselves. Self-kindness fuels resilience, clarity, and emotional well-being. Without it, we risk burnout, compassion fatigue, and inner frustration.

Self-kindness may look like:

  • Take breaks without guilt
  • Say “no” when you need to
  • Rest when your body calls for it

When kindness leads the way, others naturally feel safer, calmer, and more connected, and this is how compassion spreads, one moment at a time.

We often find ourselves caught in routines and expectations that once worked for us, but no longer do.

This video is an invitation to pause and reflect: Does the way I work still feel true to who I am?

The Reiki principle: Just for today, I will do my work honestly, isn’t just about avoiding deceit; it’s about doing honest work in a way that feels true to you, your values, and your purpose. It’s about giving your best from a place of integrity, not exhaustion.

We often think of honesty as something we give others. However, honesty with ourselves means admitting that our current work is draining us or realizing that a new direction may be calling.

Honest work doesn’t mean perfect work; it means showing up fully and truthfully, both to yourself and to others.

If you’re feeling unfulfilled or disconnected at work, feeling burned out, or simply longing for deeper meaning in your job, you deserve work that feels good to you, not a jaded version. Sometimes honesty means admitting something needs to change.

What Worry Does to Us: A Reiki Reflection on Letting Go

Worry can be so loud at times, or silently evading thoughts. Either way, it’s heavy. And over time, it can pull us away from our presence, peace, and purpose.

One of my favorite Reiki Principles:

Just for today, I will not worry.

This simple phrase serves as a great reminder to breathe, reset, and return to a state of peace and calm, especially during stressful times.

In this video, we explore this beautiful Reiki principle, and I share a few calming ways to gently release the weight of worry, if only for today. It’s not about never worrying again; it’s about learning how to pause, reflect, and reclaim calm.

Reiki is a powerful practice to help with relaxation, stress-relief, lower anxiety, and overworked mind chatter. Spending time relaxing and letting go of the week’s overloaded and complicated tasks. What is Reiki?

Episode 36 -How Can Reiki Healing Help You and Your Relationships? (Podcast)

In this episode, we discuss what Reiki is and how it can heal you and your relationships.  

Reiki is a Japanese technique for relaxation, which also promotes healing. Reiki’s performed through light touch, or the hands are hovering over someone or by distance. Warm and soothing energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into the recipient, promoting relaxation and releasing tension.  Disclaimer: Reiki is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment, and it does not replace them. 

A Reiki treatment takes about an hour and is carried out with the recipient fully-clothed (except for shoes) and resting comfortably with pillows and a blanket on a massage table or other stable flat surface, which is a comfortable height for the Reiki practitioner to work. The Reiki practitioner’s hands are placed gently on or above the body and kept still for a few minutes. The recipient may feel heat or tingling from the practitioner’s hands or notice a flow of energy within the body. Recipients usually feel calm and relaxed during and after the treatment; however, some may feel energized.

Reiki energy moves through the body and releases blocked energy. When you are stuck mentally and emotionally in a loop when having a relaxing Reiki treatment, it can help you release that particular situation to move forward, which will help you balance your emotions towards that situation or relationship.

What is Reiki? How about a calming session of relaxation while reducing stress.

A few years ago, I was introduced to Reiki by a friend. She is a Reiki Master. I scheduled a session with her, and it was terrific. I had more sessions throughout the years. I would try to convince my husband to try it.

Then one day, we went on a road trip to Sedona. I said to him, is it okay if I schedule a Reiki session here. He said yes, and I will have one too. He had a healing with energy experience during his Reiki session. Since that trip to Sedona, my husband has encouraged me to become a Reiki Practitioner. It may have been for his benefit. He can have Reiki anytime he wants it.  

I am sure a few of you have never heard of Reiki, and some of you have.

The practitioner conducts Reiki to flow into a person who isn’t near them from a distance with their permission.

How can Reiki help?

Reiki balances and works on the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual levels. It may assist with pain management, preventive care, and mental/emotional circumstances such as anxiety, addiction, stress reduction, relaxation, and more. It focuses on sending energy into the body for optimum health.
