“One Life – Live it!”

Recently I was driving my truck on the way to go shopping and I saw this jeep with a wheel cover which stated, “One Life – Live it!” The music playing in my truck at the time was a Bob Seger’s song called “Against the Wind” with the lyrics “I guess I lost my way”. I started self-reflecting; yes, there are times in our lives when we do lose our way and yes, those experiences should have taught us some life changing lessons and hopefully for the better.

All of us at some point in life look back at all the choices we made and think “What if…….I decided to go along this other path instead of the path I walked”? Would it really have been a better direction for me? I think we meet the people we are suppose to meet and be where we are suppose to be on this wonderful journey called “One Life – Live it!” What do you think? ~ Patti

STONE AND SAND – A parable on forgiveness ~ author unknown

IMG_1120

Two friends were walking through the desert.  During some point of the journey, they had an argument; and one friend slapped the other one in the face.  The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything wrote in the sand,

TODAY my best friend slapped me in the face.

They kept on walking, until they found a oasis, where they decided to take a bath.  The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.  After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on the STONE:

TODAY my best friend saved my life!

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, your wrote in the SAND

and now you write on a STONE, Why?”  The friend replied “When someone hurts us we should write it down in the sand, where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.”  But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in STONE where no wind can ever erase it!”

*Learn to write your hurts in the SAND and to carve your benefits in STONE.*

This parable is a beautiful illustration of forgiveness.  In every relationship we have at one time or another someone will hurt us.  Learning to write in the sand (your journal) and letting the hurt out by releasing it, so the wind will blow the hurt away (by shredding or burning the words) helps us to forgive.  You can’t change others but you can change how you react to others.  It takes work to have striving relationships.   Carve your benefits of that person in stone (your heart) by remembering why you love or like that person daily. ~ Patti

It is essential in any relationship to be open and really listen to others!

Stop thinking about what you are going to say next and really be in the moment of listeningWhen you are too busy interrupting and expressing your opinion you miss out on connecting with others and learning new things. Active listening is a great way to work on improving struggling relationships. Give it a try and let me know how it went. ~ Patti

  • What does this mean to you?
  • Are you spending time with what you are passionate about?
  • If not what is holding you back?

*Spending time with what we are passionate about brings JOY in our lives.  Start making time for a little dose of happiness.*
