Question: How are you making a positive difference at work?

Yesterday a friend and I were talking and he shared a life lesson he learned from his father. His Dad was a high school teacher and had keys to the school gym. His father passed away recently. As he was telling me this story I felt it was very inspirational and I asked him if I could share his life lesson on my blog with others. He said yes and sent me an email in his own words about his life lesson #52. I would like to share it in his own words.
Life lesson #52:
Growing up as a young boy, I always struggled with keeping weight on and thus was very thin and underweight. Well as a sophomore or junior in high school I discovered a weight room within the high school. One day after doing a workout I asked my dad “ why didn’t you introduce or tell me about this sooner?” My Dad turned and looked at me and responded “son this was here the whole time, it was something you had to really want from within for yourself…” As a young man, I truly didn’t understand what he was saying to me until later in life. I from time to time have to remind myself of this fable (among a few others) to make me reflect and relate to real life situations….(I miss my Dad so Much).
Many times in life we will have the keys right in front of us and just don’t realize it.
Questions: What does life lesson #52 mean to you? How many times in life have you had the keys in front of you and didn’t used them?

A couple of weeks ago a situation happened which I received an email from someone. This email was very rude and unprofessional towards me personally. Instead of taking my own advice and being proactive by journaling or stepping away to reflect on how to respond or not respond. I immediately replied and was reactive. We all fall short at times and of course I was upset with myself later. Reflecting back I could have typed out an email response, not sent it, walked away and then came back and rewrite my response in a different manner.
When we fall short, it makes us realize we still have so much more to learn and experience in life regarding our interaction with others. We fall down and pick ourselves back up and we learn from those short comings. Through this experience I realized walking away and regrouping my thoughts would have been a better solution.
Journaling, self-reflection, praying, meditation or going for a quick walk is very good for the spirit and gives us a new perspective. I am still learning and practicing these techniques daily. Life is full of self discovery and sometimes those breakthroughs are not always pleasant, however we become better through those experiences in the end. – Patti

Take a risk.
Keep focused and determined on what you want.
Associate with others who motivate, inspire and believe in you.
Strive for abundance.
Continue to learn and grow.
Don’t be the person who believes they could be so much more and decides not to make it happen. Live for today and keep moving towards what you really want in life. Don’t live your life with regrets. Choose to make it happen instead! – Patti

Indecision can bring on stress and worry. Take some time to sit down and self reflect on why you are not moving forward and making a decision.
Ask yourself the following questions:
Sometimes taking a little time for self-reflection and quiet can ease the anxiety and open up your mind to new concepts. Once the ideas start to come to mind your stress, worry and indecision gradually fades away.
