Day 23 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ Motivation comes from WITHIN!

Day 23

Motivation comes from WITHIN!

What is motivation?

According to the dictionary MOTIVATION means the following:

1. the act or an instance of motivating
2. desire to do; interest or drive
3. incentive or inducement

About this quote “motivation comes from within” this is really true.  If you do not commit to doing something you won’t do it.  Why is commitment so important?  When you have commitment to doing something you are driven to accomplish it.  People can be lead towards something however that doesn’t mean they will act on it.  It could be the best thing for them however if they don’t see it or want it they won’t act on it.  Wanting it gives motivation to go after it.  How badly do you want to change your circumstances?  Do you have the drive and purpose to change so you can have it?  What is holding you back?  Are you fearful of failure?  The biggest regret we can have is not trying.  Take a risk and be motivated to reach for what you want in life. ~ Patti

Day 21 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ “What you resist persists. And what you look at, disappears.” Neale Donald Walsch

Day 21

“What you resist persists. And what you look at, disappears.” Neale Donald Walsch

This is an interesting quote.  When we ignore a situation or problem it will continue and grow out of control, however if we deal with the problem or situation it will go away.  I understand that it is hard to communicate with others regarding difficult situations but the problem or situation will enhance and resentment will build.  It is better to talk with that particular person than to gossip behind their back and make the dilemma worse.  Why do you think this quote makes so much sense?  Thinking the predicament is just going to miraculously disappear will not happen unless you take action to resolve it?  My wish for anyone that has something happening which is causing them anxiety is to start by talking to the person or people in a calm manner to resolve it.  Have some solutions ready to resolve it.  You will feel so much better once it is discussed and you are working towards a resolution.  Don’t let it continue to grow out of control.

Questions for self-reflection:

What is causing you anxiety?

How are you going to take action and resolve it?

What are some methods to resolve it?

Day 20 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ TRUST

Day 20

Trust

How do you build trust with others?  This is a question that is truly personal and viewed differently with each individual. Life experiences shape us on how we trust others.  Trust is like any relationship it takes time to form and requires commitment.  What does trust mean to you?  Why is trust so important to all relationships whether it is a spouse, partner, parent, child, friend, co-worker or your boss?

What is your LIFELINE?

Day 17 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ What is your LIFELINE?

What is your LIFELINE?

The definition of lifeline per the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

  • Something which provides help or support that is needed for success or survival
  •  A rope used for saving the life of someone (such as someone who has fallen into water)

Per the thesaurus other words for Lifeline are: salvation, link, help, support, helping hand or sustenance.

In our lives there are people who have supported us in our careers, school, family life, spiritual life and health.  We all have had times when we needed some kind of support.  Who were these lifelines?  How did they help you?  How did you express your appreciation?  Did you display any appreciation?  Are you a lifeline to others?  If not, why not?  Helping others is a great virtue.  When you give support  to other you should not expect anything back in return.  Provide assistance with a giving heart. 🙂

Question:  How can you assist someone today with a giving heart?

Every day is an opportunity to change things for the better! ~ Michael Pivec

It is a NEW day!

Every day is an opportunity to change things for the better! ~ Michael Pivec

What a great affirmation!  It is so true every day is an opportunity to change things for the better.  If we start each day as a NEW day and learn from the past but not constantly dwell on it.  We can move towards those fresh opportunities in life.  Keeping a positive outlook brightens the people around you as well as yourself.  Being positive gives you opportunities to look at things in a pristine way.  Others will want to assist you in succeeding which opens up different and exciting possibilities.  It is a NEW day make the most of it! ~ Patti 🙂

Question: How are you going to brighten your NEW day?

Resolving an issue with a co-workers bad behavior

A friend was telling me about a situation at her work.  She has a co-worker that takes a late lunch after the boss leaves for the day and he comes back high and sleeps on the job.  Her other colleagues are scare of him because when he comes down from the high he becomes angry and mean.  My friend has only worked with him a couple of times, since they have different shift schedules and has not encountered this behavior.  The other co-workers don’t feel comfortable saying something to the boss and are afraid to confront him due to his anger issues.  They came to her because they want help.  After she expressed the circumstances I started asking her questions.  Through listening and asking her questions she came up with an action plan on how she is going to approach this situation to resolve it.

Q:        Why is it important for others to come up with their own solutions?

Q:        How would you handle this situation?

Not letting anger control your outcome

A friend was telling me recently of a situation which happened at his work. A co-worker of his was pushed to the breaking point by one of his peers and exploded with anger.  The person who lashed out had been holding in his frustration and finally blew.  The results of this uncontrollable anger cost him his job.

What steps may have prevented this from happening?

Here are a few tips when you find yourself at the boiling point:

  • Walk away immediately when you feel the anger boiling up inside.
  • Step outside for some fresh air to clear your mind.
  • Go back to your work space, grab a piece of paper and write down all your ugly feelings. Get out all those emotions, reflect on it and destroy it.

Controlling your anger and temper will help you as well as those around you. After you have calmed down and self reflected about the situation.  Think about how you will approach the person to calmly discuss the matter.  Does it need to be address quickly? Or does it really need to be discussed at all?  By practicing these tips on how to handle anger it may help you gain respect from others instead of destroying it. ~ Patti

Responding to Others

What is the importance of responding to others?

If someone takes the time to send an email, instant message or text you, have some manners and respond back.  People who do not respond back appear to be rude, self absorbed or a just don’t care attitude.  This may not be the case at all but that is how it is taken.  Respond back even if it is “I got your message.  Thank you!”  To keep good relationships with friends, associates, clients, family and others in your life make some sort of effort or people will give up on you.  It is just common courtesy.

We all get busy with work and personal lives and yes we are getting pulled in many directions.  Sometimes we feel overwhelmed but we can take a few minutes every day to reply back to others.  Show some respect towards that person who took the time out of their busy schedule to connect with you. ~ Patti

Questions:  Is this a subject we all may want to improve upon?  How does it make you feel when others don’t respond back to you?
