Customer Service Week: Appreciating Employees

This week is Customer Service Week.  How will you be showing appreciation towards your employees which are the face of your business?  As a leader it is important to show appreciation toward your employees and not just during “Customer Service Week” but throughout the year.

[Audio Available Below]

Here are some good reasons why to reflect gratitude and appreciation towards staff:

They have the most interaction with the customers.

If employees have a bad attitude and treat customers horribly.  Customers will not purchase your product, services or even come back.

Employees are the face of the company and reflect company values.

How staff interact with customers is the key for a successful business.

Here is a Scenario of Great Customer Service:

Regular customers like coming into a restaurant not just because of the delicious food.  Customers come back most of the time because of the excellent customer service and how they were treated.  When a customer feels welcome, acknowledge and treated special they will continually come back.  They will choose your restaurant because it makes them feel satisfied and valued.

The same goes for an employees.  When they feel valued and are treated well. The employees will continue to want to come into work, share their talents and make suggestions on how to make the business better.  The staff will belong to the organization.

Take Away:

Treat your employees as what they are doing is making a difference.  When employees feel valued they will give their best effort towards the job.  Being a good leader is a reflection of excellent staff.

I would love to see your comments about what you did to show your appreciation towards staff and what was their reaction.

Comments are always welcome and please share this post with your colleagues, friends, family and on your social networks!

Effective Leaders Encourage Motivation

motivation

What is a motivated employee?  The employee has the desire to accomplish what they want in life and work.  Motivation of an employee comes from within; through their thoughts, beliefs, ambitions and goals.  If the employee is not committed, motivation will not happen.  A motivated employee has a positive outlook at work and like what they do.  They have the desire to do what it takes to get the job done.

Intrinsic Motivation vs Extrinsic Motivation

Intrinsic motivation comes from within the employee.  Extrinsic motivation comes from outside of the employee; such as awards, money, recognition or praise.  Employees who feel motivated are more likely to be persistent and productive in the workplace.  When there is lack of motivation, the employees have no interest or desire to perform their work duties.

As a leader;  lead by example with an encouraging attitude.  Make sure you hire motivated and goal driven people for your organization which is the key to a successful business.

Self reflection question:

How are you staying motivated?

Everything matters when pursuing goals!

Every thought, action, decision, process, step, attitude, risk, experience, idea, challenge, struggle, reason, motivation, desire, energy, mindset, journey, and relationship will either move you towards or away from your goal.

When setting a goal here are some questions to ask yourself:

Do I really want it?

Why do I want it?

What does this goal mean to me?

Am I willing to put my everything into this goal and make sacrifices to obtain it?

What obstacles may I face?

How will I overcome them?

What will my life be like when I have achieved this goal?

Having a positive attitude really does matter when pursuing your goal.  It gives you confidence to keep going.  Staying focused on the goal keeps you wanting it.  Being prepared there may be obstacles and having a plan to remove them with strategies works towards success of accomplishing the goal.

Write down on paper your goal, these questions from above with your answers.  Reflect on them daily.  This will help keep you inspired and focused on accomplishing your goal.  Your thoughts are the key to your success.  Keep yourself focused, motivated, inspired and watch your goal become a reality. ~ Patti

The 30 days GOAL challenge

Small Steps

Last month I put out a 30 days goal challenge in my blog post dated 11/26/15 GOALS.  In the 30 days goal challenge I talked about setting one goal and take a small step daily towards making it a reality.

If you participated in the 30 days challenge.

  • What did you accomplish by taking one small step a day towards your goal?
  • Were you successful?
  • How did it feel to get those little tasks completed?
  • Are you going to set another action plan for the next 30 days?

If so, create a new action plan and take small steps each day to work towards the goal.  If you didn’t partake last month, why not start today and see what happens.  It would be great to see responses on what everyone accomplished whether it was the last 30 days, in the next 30 days or both.

Last month I worked on getting some small tasks completed that I had been putting off.  It was a great feeling to get them completed and not to think about having to do them anymore. 🙂

To grow in life and be successful you need a purpose.  Goals assist you to achieve what you want in life.  They give you a road map towards finding confidence and obtaining your aspirations and dreams.   My wish for you is to be inspired on continually working towards achieving your goals and purpose in life; one step at a time.~ Patti

A good LEADER create LEADERS in others!

Follow the Leader

What is a good leader?  How does a good leader create leaders in others?  Those are great questions to ponder.

What is a good leader to me?

A good leader listens even when they don’t agree and has the ability to explain their outlook and why.  Has a talented way to give constructive feedback without deflating the employee.  Hold others accountable for their actions and hold themselves accountable, as well.

The ability to communicate the strategic plan and goals for the future of the team.  Motivate and encourage team members to obtain these goals with leadership and team building skills.

A good leader is trustworthy, honest, ethical, loyal, dedicated and dependable.  They coach, mentor and respect their employees and want them to succeed within their organization.  They are upfront about difficult uncomfortable situations and the subordinates are not guessing or assuming what they really meant.  These are a few traits I believe makes a good leader.

How does a good leader create leaders in others?

A good leader meets with their employees one on one to discuss personal development.  The supervisor and staff member create an action plan with goals and training courses.  Through coaching, mentoring, a career development plan and leading with a proven successful manner, the employee will be on a career path of purpose.  It is up to the individual to pursue their dreams and aspirations to be a good leader.  Don’t underestimate the importance of having a good coach, leader or person in your life to assist you along the way. Having a good leader to follow is priceless. Just think, what possibilities could be in the workplace if everyone was a good leader.  ~ Patti

Day 30 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ Getting STARTED

Day 30

“The greatest amount of wasted time is the time not getting started.” Dawson Trotman

Sometimes getting started is hard but the rewards are endless.  Setting your goal, coming up with a plan of action and the most important thing is putting the plan into to action.  Getting started and motivated to take the steps is crucial to change your life and to live your dream.  Procrastination is a waste of precious time.  It doesn’t help you attain your goal or dream.  To get what you want you have to pursue it.  To pursue it starts motivating you to achieve it.

Question:  Have you been procrastinating or are you on track towards your goal and dream?

Day 27 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ Big Steps

Steps

Day 26

If you have a great ambition, take as big a step as possible in the direction of fulfilling it. ~ Mildred McAfee

Big steps

What is your great ambition?  Is there something you really want to do but have not figure out how to get there.  Setting up goals and a plan of action to accomplish your aspirations will help turn them into reality.  Without a plan there is no inspiration to pursue it and no accountability to put it into action.  Take the big step and start planning out how you will achieve your great ambition.  ~ Patti

Day 23 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ Motivation comes from WITHIN!

Day 23

Motivation comes from WITHIN!

What is motivation?

According to the dictionary MOTIVATION means the following:

1. the act or an instance of motivating
2. desire to do; interest or drive
3. incentive or inducement

About this quote “motivation comes from within” this is really true.  If you do not commit to doing something you won’t do it.  Why is commitment so important?  When you have commitment to doing something you are driven to accomplish it.  People can be lead towards something however that doesn’t mean they will act on it.  It could be the best thing for them however if they don’t see it or want it they won’t act on it.  Wanting it gives motivation to go after it.  How badly do you want to change your circumstances?  Do you have the drive and purpose to change so you can have it?  What is holding you back?  Are you fearful of failure?  The biggest regret we can have is not trying.  Take a risk and be motivated to reach for what you want in life. ~ Patti
