Day 1 of the 5 Day Power of Positivity Challenge

Welcome to Day 1 of the 5 Day

Power of Positivity Challenge.

I am so excited you’re here!

This 5 Day challenge is designed to ignite positivity within. Especially if struggling with negative surroundings, or difficult circumstances, and want to add some extra positivity in your daily work and personal life.

When you think of positivity what do you imagine?

Today’s challenge is about experiencing hope in our daily lives.

Each one of us carries hope inside. Hope gives us the strength to keep going when we are not sure we can. Having hope gives us purpose and a reason to continue.  It doesn’t always reflect what the outcome will be, only what we want it to be.  Attaining hope is important when dealing with life’s gloomy situations and it pushes us through those challenging moments.

They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for. ~ Tom Bodett

What is something that you have been hoping for in your life?

Sit down, answer the question and write it somewhere you can see it throughout this 5 day challenge.

Here are some ideas of where to place your written answer:

  • Put the words on your screen saver via cell phone and computer
  • Hang the words on your refrigerator
  • Carry it in your pocket and look at it throughout the challenge
  • Tape the words to your steering wheel
  • Write it in your calendar/diary/journal
  • Draw or paint it
  • Write on your dry erase board
  • Write it on your bathroom mirror with erasable markers
  • Paint the words on a flat rock and display it in your work area
  • Get creative

Looking at it each day will inspire and encourage you.

Hope is the thing with feathers. That perches in the soul. And sings the tune without the words. And never stops at all. ~ Emily Dickinson

Being positive doesn’t mean that things always turn out the way you want them.  It’s knowing that you will be okay no matter what happens.  Hope is not giving up and continuing to live your life to the fullest!  You are unique and amazing.

The wise don’t expect to find a life worth of living; they make it that way! ~ Anonymous

Day 1 challenge is to share your HOPE in the “leave a reply” below. I would love to see your expressions of hope and maybe it will inspire others as well! ❤️

Today’s Positive Affirmation:
Hope keeps me positive!

What is my hope?  My hope is that this 5 day challenge has a positive impact in your life!

Look up and see LIFE!

Look up

What is around YOU?

Two weeks ago I wrote about life changing subjects to consider incorporating into ourselves this year in the blog post It is a New Year.  One of the key action steps was putting gratitude into our life and actions.

The other day I read a post from actor Keanu Reeves.  It was absolutely beautiful about seeing life around you.  Here is what he said about a photo of him and the background of a busy city and everyone rushing around:

You see these people behind me? They are rushing to work and not paying attention to anything. Sometimes we get so caught up in our daily lives that we forget to take the time out to enjoy the beauty in life. It’s like we’re zombies. Look up and take your head phones out. Say Hi to someone you see and maybe give a hug to someone who looks like they’re hurting. Help out someone. You have to live every day like it’s your last. What people don’t know about me is that I had depression a couple of years back. I never told anyone about it. I had to fight my way out of depression. The person who was holding me back from my happiness was ME. Every day is precious so let’s treat it like that. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, so live today! I hope you share this post to spread love this holiday.” ~ Keanu Reeves

So many people are lonely and/or depressed.  Reaching out with a hello, a smile or hug could really change their day for the better.  We make ourselves so busy we lose sight of what is really important in life.  Look up, enjoy life and others.

I also read this wonderful story a few days ago and I don’t know who wrote it but I thought I would share:

“One day a very wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country for the sole purpose of showing his son how it was to be poor. They spent a few days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

After their return from the trip, the father asked his son how he liked the trip. “It was great, Dad,” the son replied. “Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked. “Oh Yeah,” said the son.

“So what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father. The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.” The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, “It showed me just how poor we really are.”

What a great perspective.  Too many times we forget what we have and concentrate on what we don’t have. What is one person’s worthless object is another’s prize possession. It is all based on one’s perspective.  Sometimes it takes the perspective of a child to remind us what’s important.” ~ Unknown

Some people are not thankful for what they have and are wanting what others have.  They are not grateful for the love ones they have in their life and are too busy wanting more instead of enjoying what they have.

The moral of these two stories is to be grateful, enjoy what you have and what is around you.  Be kind and love others.  Quit comparing yourself to others and appreciate what you have because what someone else has may not be right for you.  Enjoy life to the fullest. ~ Patti 🙂

Self-reflection questions:

  • What are you grateful for in your life?
  • How are you going to show kindness towards others?
  • How are you going to stop comparing yourself to others?
  • What steps are you going to take to enjoy life?

Day 28 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ Life STRUGGLES

Day 28 of 30

Life struggles

We all have life struggles.  How do we keep positive and optimistic when everything around us is falling apart?  That is a good question.  Having a good support system is a necessity.  Being able to talk to a neutral party about the struggles and/or journal about those feelings is the key.  Taking it out on others close to you just makes things worse in the end.  It can cause relationship damage that may not be fixable.  People won’t come around due to the past hurts.  Hurting people hurt others if they don’t stop the cycle of acting out and gossiping.  Hurtful words sting and are remembered.  It can cause major trust issues.  Trust is hard to get back once shattered.  When experiencing ugly emotions journal about them to release the negativity.  Then it is private and not upsetting to those around you.  It only takes one pessimistic mean person to start a ripple and turn a calm peaceful environment into an unfriendly place.  Do you want to be that venomous person that alters the atmosphere around you?  At one time or another we have been this person, it is time to really reflect and STOP the pattern of negativity.  Life is meant to be enjoyable not toxic.  It would be great to see your thoughts and comments on this topic. ~ Patti

Day 27 of 30 day blogging challenge ~ Big Steps

Day 26

If you have a great ambition, take as big a step as possible in the direction of fulfilling it. ~ Mildred McAfee

Big steps

What is your great ambition?  Is there something you really want to do but have not figure out how to get there.  Setting up goals and a plan of action to accomplish your aspirations will help turn them into reality.  Without a plan there is no inspiration to pursue it and no accountability to put it into action.  Take the big step and start planning out how you will achieve your great ambition.  ~ Patti

When facing struggles how can you beat those feelings of gloom and doom?

Recently I felt everything was falling down around me.  My Dad is terminally ill and my Mom is overwhelmed.  I was feeling stressed and had a lot on my plate at that time.  My parents live 3 ½ hours away so I have been making the drive to see them almost every weekend since my Dad was diagnose.  I was trying to stay calm, supportive and helpful to my Mom but internally I was sad and distressed for my Dad.  The holidays were here and it didn’t feel very merry for any of us but we were thankful for another holiday with my Dad.

How do you break this cycle of feelings?

That was the question I was asking myself?  Quit the pity party and start being your happy self again.  I had spent a lot of time with my parents.  I had read many books while I was there sitting with my Dad while he watched sports on T.V.  I spent time in self-reflection, pray and journaling.  Talking to a close friend who had been through the same experience a couple of years ago helped relieved some of the sadness I was experiencing.  Spending time regrouping and realizing you can only do so much.

We all face challenges and struggles at some point in our life time.  How we cope with those challenges and struggles is the key to overcoming the gloom and doom anxiety.  Letting go of what we can’t control is good for the soul.  The most important thing for me to remember is to enjoy every precious moment I still have with my Dad and forget everything else and especially to fill my life with Faith, Hope and Love throughout each and every day.  ~ Patti

Question:  What challenge or struggle are you holding onto and need to let go?
