Lifescaping ~ What is holding you back in life?

The Benefits of Adult Coloring – Why Do It?

I purchased my first Adult Coloring Book a few years ago. At this present time, I have a variety of coloring books, markers, and pencils. I have received coloring books as gifts, and I have given coloring books as gifts as well. I take coloring books on camping trips and weekend getaways. Coloring, for me, is a way to relax and let go.

On one camping trip, my friends and I spent hours coloring inside my camper while the rain came pouring down. We shared our life challenges and our life aspirations. It was a great way to reconnect with each other. We each had different coloring styles, which made each page unique and different.

Be gentle with yourself; you can’t fail at self-care. ~ Dr. Samantha, Naturopathic Physician

Benefits of Adult Coloring

  1. Coloring is considered therapeutic to reduce anxiety, relieve stress, and alters bad moods.
  2. Coloring is similar to meditating. It increases focus and shifts our thoughts to the present moment.
  3. Coloring applies both hemispheres of the brain, the right and left, simulating the brain responsible for creativity and logic. From what I have read, some physicians recommend coloring for their Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients.
  4. Coloring replaces negative thinking as a distraction.
  5. Coloring five minutes before bedtime has been reported to help some people sleep better because of its calming effects.
  6. Social group coloring evaluates relaxation and the joy of spending time with others.
  7. When coloring, we are unplugged from technology, which engages in self-care “me time.”
  8. Coloring creates boundaries by staying in the lines and evokes metaphorical boundaries in our personal lives.

There is even a National Coloring Day which is August 2nd. Adult coloring is good for the soul. How about taking a few minutes each day before going to bed to color and see if it changes your perspective on life. 🙂 ~ Patti

Creating a Balanced Life. Is it Possible? [Video]

Creating a Balanced Life. Is it Possible?

Today, I am going to talk about achieving a balanced life. I too struggle with this concept.  I strive for balance however I backslide then pick myself up and continue to keep moving forward to achieve this so called balanced life. I want myself and others to live life to the fullest and enjoy their family and friends.

When you are happy and not stressed out all the time, you create an environment of kindness and joy all around you.

When you are stressed out and exhausted you experience a feeling of urgency and discomfort.

What do you think?

Is it time to encourage peace and joy in your life?

Comments are always welcome, please feel free to share your thoughts about achieving a balanced life and yes, I do feel it is achievable.

Spread the joy and share this post with your colleagues, friends, family and on your social networks for others to get inspired!

12 Days of Inspiration ~ A Joyous Balanced Life ~ Day 7~ Change Your Outlook and Change Your World

12 Days of Inspiration ~ A Joyous Balanced Life

Day 7 ~ Change Your Outlook and Change Your World

Do you know someone who seems to always have something great happening to them?

Everything comes to them with ease.  They are well-liked, and good things fall at their feet.

Why do you think that is?

What characteristics do they have?

Are they happy?

Are they kind?

Do they speak well about others?

Do they have a good attitude towards life in general?

Today’s inspiration is about,  how changing your outlook changes your world.   What are the benefits of being more grateful, thankful, light-hearted, friendly, kind and positive?  Well, here are some good reasons!

  1. Positive thinking attracts good things to you.
  2. A positive outlook creates meaningful relationships.
  3. Being positive decreases depression and anxiety.
  4. Positive thoughts increase motivation, inspiration and creativity.
  5. Being positive improves the immune system.

After reading these reasons, why are we not more positive?

This is a good question to ponder.

Why is being critical, mean, sarcastic and judgmental the norm?  Why not be happy and supportive of others?

What if more people were kind, helpful, and supportive?

Would this change the world for the better?

Would people return the kindness back more willingly?

It takes one person at a time to make this change.

What about you?

Are you ready to change your outlook and change your world?

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. ~ Winston Churchill

The Takeaway:
Having a positive outlook increases motivation, creativity, better health, improves relationships and makes the world a better place.

Self Reflection:How am I creating more positivity in my life?

Today’s Affirmation:
Positive thinking is changing me for the better!

Summertime Inspiration

Every working day we push ourselves to get more completed and to do more.  We continually are working on the big picture or the next great thing.  We over work and are constantly thinking about work, however there comes a time to stop and live in the moment.

Spend time with your spouse/partner, family, and friends and really give them your full attention without focusing and thinking about work.  Spending quality time with others keep us balanced, grateful, happy and feeling loved.

Usually the reason we work so hard is for our family, but they need to have our loving attention as well.  It could be showing up to your children’s ball game.  A date night with your spouse.  Taking your parents out to lunch or shopping.  Sending a text to a friend, “Let’s get together for coffee”.  Make it a point to do the little things to keep your relationships alive.

Life is more than work, it is about living a purposeful meaningful life.  Put time and effort into your relationships, just like you do with work.  You will feel happier and less overwhelmed.  Life is to be expressed, celebrated and fun.  Isn’t it time to have some summertime inspiration and go on an adventure with someone special?

What are some strategies you can do this summer to improve your relationships?

Please share this post with your colleagues, friends, family and on your social networks for others to get inspired!

Moving Out of Comfort Zone to Get What You Want in Life!

It is easy to stay in our comfort zone and do the same things, day in and day out.  Go to the same grocery store, gas station, restaurants, and route to work.  There is a feeling of familiarity knowing where things are and being able to quickly get in and out.

What does being in your comfort zone mean?

It is a natural state of where most people feel comfortable and want to be.  When we stay in our comfort zone we get complacent and bored.  It is easy to remain within our comfort boundaries than to face challenges, change, fear or adventure.  Getting out of our comfort helps us grow and deal better with change.

Outside of your comfort zone is where the magic happens. ~ Unknown

Let’s discuss the benefits of trying new things and having a little more adventure in life.

When we stay in our comfort zone we miss out on professional opportunities, new life experiences and personal growth.  By doing stuff a little different and taking chances, it changes our focus and we may become happy, motivated, challenged, confident and inspires a positive outlook at life.

Tips for moving away from comfort zone:

Do one thing different each day.

Drive a different route to and from work.

Make a new food or drink recipe.

Try a different restaurant.

Order something you have never had before; such as a different type of coffee blend, a cocktail or a meal.

Listen to a new radio station.

Learn a new hobby or take a martial art class.

Read a different type of book.  Something you wouldn’t usually read.

Do something on your bucket list.

Go on some type of adventure.

Celebrate after you did something new and different, which was out of your comfort zone.

The biggest rewards in life are found outside your comfort zone. Live with it. Fear and risk are prerequisites if you want to enjoy a life of success and adventure. ~ Jack Canfield

Take away:

Comfort is easy.  How will you grow if you stay in the same place?  Take small daily steps doing something different either at work and/or at home life.  By staying within your comfort zone, you may miss out on professional opportunities, new life experiences and learning new things.  Take a risk, don’t think about it, and just do it.  Push your personal boundaries, break free and live in the moment.  Be adventurous, you will definitely be surprised at how much your confidence level has increased!

Call to Action:

Get out of your comfort zone and take one small step to do something different in your daily routine. Respond back how it felt.  ~ Patti 🙂
