As someone who encourages work-life balance and creating a more meaningful life, I thought it would be fun to share a little more about what relaxation looks like for me.
A relaxing day doesn’t have to be complicated. For me, some of the best days are made up of simple things.
If my cat lets me sleep in, that’s already a pretty good start! 😂 Once I get up, I’ll feed her, water my plants, and fill up the fountains outside.
Living in Arizona means the fountains need attention, because it’s hot. I love watching the hummingbirds come by, and I like knowing that there is water available for them.
When the weather is not too hot, I will make some coffee and sit outside on the patio.
I will listen to the wind chimes if there’s a nice breeze and enjoy my coffee.
Sometimes I will journal or spend some time with self-reflection questions. I may pray or meditate.
Another favorite is relaxing in my hammock with my headphones and listening to an audiobook.
And I have to admit, I love a good cozy mystery audiobook. 😊
In the evening, my husband and I may watch some of our favorite shows together.
When I am getting ready for bed, I often meditate, listen to a couple of chapters of a mystery, play a game on my Kindle, and practice self-Reiki to help me relax before sleep.
None of these things are complicated.
But they matter to me.
They help me slow down.
They give me time to think.
They help me reconnect with myself.
And they give me an opportunity to enjoy the moment.
What Helps You Relax?
I think we sometimes make relaxation more complicated than it has to be.
We may think we need a vacation, a weekend away, or a major change before we can truly rest.
Sometimes what we need is much, much simpler.
Maybe it’s sitting outside with a cup of coffee.
Maybe it’s reading.
Maybe it’s spending time with someone you love.
Maybe it’s listening to music, walking, gardening, journaling, praying, meditating, or sitting in silence for a few minutes.
The important thing is noticing what actually helps you relax and recharge.
As we focus on Creating More Balance, this is worth thinking about.
Are you making room for the things that help you feel refreshed?
Are you giving yourself time to slow down?
Are there simple things you enjoy that have gradually disappeared from your life?
You don’t necessarily need to change your life completely.
You might simply start by noticing what brings you a little more calm, joy, love, fun, connection, and rest.
What does a relaxing day look like for you? 🦋
I would love to hear what helps you slow down and recharge.
