What Does It Mean to Work Honestly?

Have you ever looked at your to-do list and thought, “This just doesn’t feel like me anymore?”

Watch the video: 👉 What Does It Mean to Work Honestly?

We often find ourselves caught in routines and expectations that once worked for us, but no longer do.

This video is an invitation to pause and reflect: Does the way I work still feel true to who I am?

The Reiki principle: Just for today, I will do my work honestly, isn’t just about avoiding deceit; it’s about doing honest work in a way that feels true to you, your values, and your purpose. It’s about giving your best from a place of integrity, not exhaustion.

We often think of honesty as something we give others. However, honesty with ourselves means admitting that our current work is draining us or realizing that a new direction may be calling.

Honest work doesn’t mean perfect work; it means showing up fully and truthfully, both to yourself and to others.

If you’re feeling unfulfilled or disconnected at work, feeling burned out, or simply longing for deeper meaning in your job, you deserve work that feels good to you, not a jaded version. Sometimes honesty means admitting something needs to change.

I would love to hear your thoughts. What does honest work look like in your life right now? Leave a comment below.

Exploring the Urgent Issue of Employee Retention: Is Loyalty a Thing of the Past?

In this podcast episode, we’ll explore employee retention.

Hi, How’s it going?

What are your opinions on the changing employee and company loyalty trend and its impact on company behavior?

Employees used to be more loyal to companies. This shift in loyalty may be due to a perceived lack of company not being loyal back.

There’s a growing perception that companies need to show more empathy towards their staff, treat them well, and support them in front of others.

Layoffs and retail store closures are happening to people who have worked for companies for decades, and employees who are more recent and making less money appear to keep their jobs.

What are your opinions on the changing employee and company loyalty trend and its impact on company behavior?

Let’s explore this together.

What do you think are the primary reasons people are not staying in companies for their entire careers or lifetimes as they have in the past?

Is it?

  • Lack of positive recognition and feeling undervalued.
  • Businesses not offering pensions or laying off staff before they reach their retirement date for a pension?
  • Lack of growth opportunities, passed over for promotion by a colleague who needs a better work ethic.
  • Working with less, excessive workload, and career burnout.
  • A toxic work environment or frustration with their manager or company work culture, mission, or values.
  • Management tolerates lousy behavior and the terrible work ethic of staff.
  • Policies change, workload changes, or job duties change.
  • Low pay or no raises in years.
  • Lack of clear direction or training for the job position.

Employees who don’t feel safe will start looking for something new.

Turnover and training new staff can be costly to the company’s bottom line, and what about losing knowledge, experience, and customers?

Customers tend to stay as repeat customers when they feel appreciated and have built a good relationship with an employee within the company.

Are there other ways to cut costs, see what’s working and what’s not, and try new strategies other than eliminating positions or closing stores?

There may be no other alternative. Have different strategies been considered? Hopefully, yes, and it was the last option.

Some companies have maintained loyalty. What do you think are some of the factors for this?

Employee loyalty and retention may have a combination of factors, many of which revolve around how employees feel about their work environment, the organization’s culture, and the value placed on them as individuals.

Exploring How to Stop Ignoring The Hard Stuff and Go From Chaos to Calm

Episode 1 Exploring Life and Work with Patti (Podcast)

In this podcast episode, I will discuss – How to Stop Ignoring the Hard Stuff and Go from Chaos to Calm.

Have you ever had something to do at work, and you didn’t want to do it?

There are things as a manager or supervisor you don’t want to do, but it is an essential part of the job. You know what I mean, and not addressing it can cause more havoc in the workplace.

Let me give you some examples:

  • Not having crucial conversations with an employee about poor performance
  • Prolonging a discussion with the team about not making goals
  • An email you are told to write by your boss
  • Calling back an angry customer or client
  • Not participating or wanting to go to mandatory leadership meetings
  • Delivering bad news, for example, no bonus, no raises, or possible layoffs within the company

I am sure all of us at one time or another has put something off that might be uncomfortable or didn’t want to do but was loading us down with it continually there, whether in worry, thought, or others depending on it.

Wouldn’t it make life and work more enjoyable if it was no longer in front of us but completed?

Getting it completed takes off a heavy burden, and then you can focus on the other things you want to do.

One of the ways to tackle the hard stuff is to do it first thing in the morning and get it out of the way. If it is a massive project, break it down into tasks. Then, as you complete a portion of the project, you will feel like you are moving forward on getting it done. Checking that section off your to-do list, spreadsheet, or Trello board feels like an achievement and inspiration.

Putting off the hard stuff or undesirable tasks doesn’t contribute to becoming successful. However, once finished, you can move on to more enjoyable tasks and have a great sense of accomplishment.

How to Break Free of Ignoring the Hard Stuff:

  • Identify it is happening and
  • Recognize it and decide to
  • Focus on the task until completed
  • Celebrate when finished

Take control of all distractions such as responding immediately to email notifications, incoming voice mail messages, texts, instant messages, social media notifications. Set specific times and limits for these activities. Block off your calendar for the task. Concentrate by tuning out or turning off all distractions and commit to that particular task.

If working in the office, let others know you are working on something with a deadline or need to finish with no distractions if they could wait on questions. By blocking the time on your digital calendar can help with limiting distractions.

Halt any negative self-talk and replace these thoughts with positive Affirmations. An example – I get things done! By telling yourself, I can do this, and pray for strength to continue and remove all obstacles in the way; it will inspire you to keep going. There were many times I would be sitting at my desk and thinking I can’t do this, and I would pray, journal, and recite positive affirmations to get me through the task, situation, or sh*t storm happening around me.

Envision how you will feel after completing the project. Then, celebrate; it doesn’t have to be something big or expensive. It could be getting a cup of your favorite coffee or taking a break to read a good book, something special to you that feels like a reward.

Sometimes getting started is the hardest, but the rewards are endless. Setting your goal, coming up with a plan of action, and the most important thing is putting the plan into action. Getting started and motivated to take action steps is crucial to change the habit of ignoring the hard stuff. However, it doesn’t help you attain your goal or dream until you get it done. To get what you want, you have to pursue it, and it starts with motivation to want to get things done.

Here are some Self Reflections to ponder:

What are some key factors which are enabling you to put off the hard stuff?

What have you been putting off?

How will it change your circumstances by getting them completed?

Today’s podcast Affirmation is I get things done!

Until next time!

Staying Positive In A Negative Environment!

I get asked this question regularly. “How can I stay positive in a negative work environment?” I understand how easy to get sucked into negativity, drama, or a bad attitude when you are in a toxic work environment.

Some people want to pull you into their emotional drama—rude comments about others, sarcastic undertones, and the energy vampires who want to drag everyone else down with them. People don’t even realize that they have a negative attitude because it has become a habit and spills into their personal lives.

When working in a toxic environment, people may start to take everything personally because of the feeling of being verbally attacked, mutilated, one-upping, taken advantage of, or pointing out mistakes or faults. As time goes on, it takes a toll on people’s emotions.

If you have been following me for a while, you know I have written about similar topics before. This situation is one of the biggest challenges people face when working with others. However, there is hope.

What are some strategies to help stay positive?

  1. Walk away when drama is happening around you. Please don’t engage in it. Excuse yourself from the conversation.
  2. When there are unkind remarks about someone else, say something nice about that particular person. This action tends to halt the conversation.
  3. Listen to uplifting music – like 528 Hz Positive Energy music on Youtube.
  4. Recite Positive Affirmations.
  5. Journal how you are feeling.
  6. Go for a walk.
  7. Focus on work tasks.

Be the person you want to be around. Focus on what you want in your life and remove the thoughts of what you don’t. Set goals of how you are going to change your situation and put them into action. Hire a coach to help you succeed to get where you want to be. ~ Patti
