The Quiet Struggles of the People Pleaser with Lynn and Patti [Podcast]

Lynn Myers and Patti Oskvarek discuss everything and anything regarding being a People Pleaser.  People Pleasers are the most helpful people you know. They usually don’t say no. They spend a great deal of time doing things for others and disregard their own needs. Being a People Pleaser could cause you to be disappointed because not everyone has the same heart as you do.

What are some of the traits of being a People Person?
* Seeks approval and words of affirmation
* Fears being alone
* Feelings of being selfish or guilty for not meeting the needs of others
* Irritable when others don’t take your advice
* Being the “go to person”, when someone is in need
* Covering for or taking the blame for others
* Giving money away which can lead towards depletion

Creating a Balanced Life. Is it Possible? [Video]

Creating a Balanced Life. Is it Possible?

Today, I am going to talk about achieving a balanced life. I too struggle with this concept.  I strive for balance however I backslide then pick myself up and continue to keep moving forward to achieve this so called balanced life. I want myself and others to live life to the fullest and enjoy their family and friends.

When you are happy and not stressed out all the time, you create an environment of kindness and joy all around you.

When you are stressed out and exhausted you experience a feeling of urgency and discomfort.

What do you think?

Is it time to encourage peace and joy in your life?

Comments are always welcome, please feel free to share your thoughts about achieving a balanced life and yes, I do feel it is achievable.

Spread the joy and share this post with your colleagues, friends, family and on your social networks for others to get inspired!

Customer Service Week: Appreciating Employees

[Audio Available Below]happy-employees

This week is Customer Service Week.  How will you be showing appreciation towards your employees which are the face of your business?  As a leader it is important to show appreciation toward your employees and not just during “Customer Service Week” but throughout the year.

Here are some good reasons why to reflect gratitude and appreciation towards staff:

  • They have the most interaction with the customers.
  • If employees have a bad attitude and treat customers horribly.  Customers will not purchase your product, services or even come back.
  • Employees are the face of the company and reflect company values.
  • How staff interact with customers is the key for a successful business.

Here is a Scenario of Great Customer Service:

Regular customers like coming into a restaurant not just because of the delicious food.  Customers come back most of the time because of the excellent customer service and how they were treated.  When a customer feels welcome, acknowledge and treated special they will continually come back.  They will choose your restaurant because it makes them feel satisfied and valued.

The same goes for an employees.  When they feel valued and are treated well. The employees will continue to want to come into work, share their talents and make suggestions on how to make the business better.  The staff will belong to the organization.

Take Away:

Treat your employees as what they are doing is making a difference.  When employees feel valued they will give their best effort towards the job.  Being a good leader is a reflection of excellent staff.

I would love to see your comments about what you did to show your appreciation towards staff and what was their reaction.

Comments are always welcome and please share this post with your colleagues, friends, family and on your social networks!

Having Organization At Home With An Overloaded Life [Audio]

Having Organization At Home With An Overloaded Life

Some of us suffer with overloaded schedules.  There is not enough time to keep a clean house, buy groceries, make meals, walk the dog, play with the kids, go to children’s sporting events, do the yard work and have a little down time to enjoy life.

Here are some tips to help with home organization:

  • Do a load of wash everyday.  Fold the clothes immediately after pulling them out of the dryer and put them away.
  • Make a meal plan once a week and go grocery shopping to get everything for the meals.  Crockpot/Slow Cooker recipes are a great way to pre-prepare food items in clear plastic ziplock bags; then throw everything for that meal in the crockpot that morning, turn on the crockpot and away you go.  When you come home you have a dinner ready to serve.
  • Have breakfast food prepared and available for the week; such as breakfast bars, fruit and breakfast burritos.  This way everyone can eat on the commute if needed.
  • Make snack bags.  Buy fruit, vegetables and snack foods.  Put these items in small clear plastic ziplock bags for the week.  These snack bags can be grabbed on the run.
  • Make lunches the night before so they are available in the morning before everyone leaves to go to school or work.
  • Have everyone select and lay out their out fits for the next day before going to bed.
  • Have everyone in the household put dirty dishes in the dishwasher.  When dishwasher is full, turn on the dishwasher right before going to bed.  The next morning you have clean dishes.  Unload the dishwasher when you get home from work.

If your budget allows why not hire someone to do a couple of these chores for you which have been piling up around you, causing anxiety, stress and holding you back on enjoying some much needed rest.

Here are some examples of housework you may consider hiring someone else to do for you:

  • Folding laundry
  • Cleaning the house
  • Doing your yard work
  • Delivering of groceries
  • Preparing weekly meals for you and your family

Having some of these tasks off of your schedule will allow you to do other things you enjoy.

Takeaway:

Now, you have some options and tips to put into action.  Get the whole family involved in doing some of these small duties and watch what a difference it will make with home organization.  If all else fails, hire someone to do some of these small tasks and feel the anxiety and stress go away with these chores completed.

I would love to see your comments about what options you have put into action and how it is going.

Comments are always welcome and please share this post with your colleagues, friends, family and on your social networks!

Overcommitting: How to Say No!

Waterfall

How do we truly have a balanced life?  Between running a business or having a demanding career, family time, volunteering, hobbies, and all other promised commitments.  We do get pulled in many different directions and at times it can bring to us to our breaking point. Being overwhelmed can create the appearance that someone wants you to do something for them and you are already overbooked and can’t do one more thing.  Yeah, it is hard not to lose oneself with everyone else’s needs and wants however saying no is the best option.

What are the signs it is time to say no?

  • You feel stress and panic
  • You don’t want to do it
  • It is not something you enjoy
  • You can’t get what you already promised completed in the timeframes promised
  • You feel if you say no to that person they won’t like you
  • It can be delegated to someone else who would enjoy doing it
  • It is going to take you away from other obligations and will it cause friction at home

Do any of these statements describe your situation?  If yes, are you ready to start saying no?

Isn’t it time to start really enjoying life and having time for what you really want in life?

If, yes how will you set those boundaries and stop overcommitting?

Take one step at a time and say no to things you don’t have time for or that you don’t want to do.  When you start saying no, it will feel uncomfortable at first however you will be set free to enjoy being you.  ~ Patti 🙂

Comments are always welcome and please share this post with your colleagues, friends, family and on your social networks!
