September is National Self-Care Awareness Month

This month is National Self-Care Awareness Month.  Why is self-care so important?  So many of us work without ceasing.  Burn-out and overwhelm is becoming an epidemic.  Work-Life balance is a must to keep our sanity.  Acknowledging awareness of preventing burn-out is the key to keeping your life in harmony.

What one thing can you do each day for a little self-care this month?

Here is a list of ideas to get you started:

  1. Eat a healthy meal
  2. Drink plenty of water
  3. Sleep for 7-10 hours
  4. Exercise for at least 20 minutes
  5. Get a medical and/or dental check up
  6. Take 5 to 10 minutes to to pray or meditate
  7. Listen to relaxing music
  8. Take 5 minutes to color
  9. Write in your journal
  10. Take 30 minutes to be creative
  11. Go on a weekend vacation
  12. Take a hike or walk
  13. Read a book or magazine
  14. Practice gratitude
  15. Spend quality time with family and friends
  16. Recite Affirmations
  17. Knowledge and thank others
  18. Watch the sunrise or sunset
  19. Watch your favorite TV show
  20. Go to the movies
  21. Go to a yoga class
  22. Snuggle with your pet
  23. Take a nap
  24. Have a big cup of tea or coffee and savor it
  25. Get a massage
  26. Play a musical instrument
  27. Take a bath or long shower
  28. Turn on some music and dance
  29. Do a cross word puzzle or word search
  30. Buy some flowers, smell them and admire them throughout the day

The best gift in life is taking care of yourself and enjoy it!  Taking care of yourself isn’t being selfish it is crucial.  My hope is this blog post will encourage you to take some “me time” throughout this month and do daily self-care while having a little fun taking care of you! ~ Patti 🙂
